「白いんげん」の食中毒について

健康食品管理士の資格を有して病院へ勤務している何人かの方から、「白いんげん」をテレビ番組で見て食べて食中毒症状がでた患者さんが大勢受診されているが、「白いんげん」とは一体どんなもの、と言うことで当協会への連絡および問い合わせがありました。
 それら幾つかの情報を分析いたしました結果、管理士の皆様に至急お伝えすべきと判断いたしましたので現時点で判明していることをお伝えいたします。
 ことの発端は、TBS系のTVで5月6日(土)放送の健康情報番組「ぴーかんバディ!」で白いんげん豆を使用したダイエット法が紹介されました。その番組を見て実行した人たちから腹痛、下痢、嘔吐などの症状で病院へかかっている人が相当数あります。トイレから出られないくらいひどい症状で、救急車で病院へ入った患者さんも多数あるようです。近く大きなニュースとなるかもしれません。

 当協会における現時点の知識によりますと「白インゲン」にはファセオラミンというアミラーゼの阻害物質が含まれております。そのためにデンプンの消化吸収が抑制され、結果として食べたデンプンがカロリーにならない事からいわゆるダイエット効果が期待されております。糖尿病治療薬の中の食後過血糖改善薬であるα-グルコシダーゼ阻害薬アカルボースに近いくらいの効果があるようです。
 国外ではある程度の臨床試験も行われており、その効果が認められてもいます。しかし、豆の粗抽出物中には不純物としてレクチン等の毒性物質(不明な部分があります)が含まれており、国外ではかなり中毒が発生した事があります。従いまして、今回はこの不純物の効果が出たものと推測しております。
 前述のニュースリリースでは結論として「番組で紹介した白いんげん豆を使用したダイエット法を控えていただくか、医師などの専門家の意見を求めた上で慎重に対応していただくよう、さらなる注意をお願い申し上げます。」となっています。

 もし管理士の皆様がこうした問い合わせを受けられましたら即座に食べないことをお勧めいただきたくお願い申し上げます。理由は薬効に近い効果が食品レベルで現れるようなものを素人の判断で摂取するのにはあまりにもリスクが大きいからです。
